SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Natural Bridge, AL.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Natural Bridge are programs that are legally permitted to give out the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary benefits aside from medication like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab center can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment center is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years depending on the kind of certification that was given.
