SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - Sunflower, AL.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab centers in Sunflower are programs who are officially permitted to dispense the medicines used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab program can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation program is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years depending on the type of accreditation it has been granted.
