SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities - Bexar, AR.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid treatment programs, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in Bexar are programs who are officially permitted to distribute the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get auxiliary benefits aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment facility can get their basic approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, however, are required to get their full accreditation in a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment center is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification that was granted.
