SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Lakeview, AR.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Lakeview are programs that are legally permitted to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get auxiliary benefits aside from medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment facility can get their initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab program is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the type of accreditation that was granted.
