SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Programs - Ravenden, AR.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Ravenden are programs which are officially allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary services aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab program can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment program is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the kind of certification that was granted.
