SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centers - Benson, AZ.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in Benson are programs which are officially allowed to dispense the medicines used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary benefits aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment program can receive initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment center is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years depending on the type of accreditation it has been given.
