The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people.
