SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities - Prescott, AZ.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine administered are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Prescott are programs who are legally allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab facility can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment program is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the type of accreditation it has been granted.
