The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid treatment programs, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Drug administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Roll are programs which are officially permitted to distribute the medications used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. A requirement that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.
