If a person in Ryde needs substance abuse treatment and doesn't have health insurance or the money to pay for the rehab program in full, the Access to Recovery Voucher is an option to consider. ATR is a federally-funded plan which makes it possible for qualified people to access treatment facilities and support including inpatient, regular outpatient, intensive outpatient, continuing care, counseling, life coaching and recovery support, vocational training, skills building, and transportation assistance. The ATR grant program provides individuals with vouchers to purchase treatment and recovery support services for addiction disorders at the provider of their choice. To be eligible for ATR individuals must fulfill certain requirements, including: 1) must be 18 years or older, 2) have a history of substance use or abuse, 3) have an annual income that is below 200% of the Federal poverty level, and 4) reside in the counties or jurisdictions that provide ATR.
People interested in the Access to Recovery Voucher can consult with ATR Service Coordinators in their area. If the person's initial choice of program or facility isn't working out, they can work with their ATR coordinator to find one that best fits their needs and that accepts the ATR.
