Young adults between the ages of 18 and 24 have access to substance abuse rehabilitation facilities built specifically to meet their needs. The most effective rehabilitation available for young adults is at an inpatient rehabilitation facility in Balm which delivers a wider range of services than outpatient programs. Substance abuse disorders and co-occurring mental health disorders can be worked on concurrently in drug treatment programs for young adults which have psychologists or therapists on site to handle co-occurring disorders.
Young adults attending treatment programs which specifically treat their age group benefit from having the peer support available and the compassion of treatment staff who are commonly trained and experienced at working with young adults.
The duration of rehabilitation can vary for young adult rehab programs, and this is usually determined based off the individual's growth throughout the program. The more severe the problem is, the longer it will be recommended that the young adult continues with the program. If outpatient rehab is the only recovery option available, this too should be thorough enough to meet the client's needs. As an example, there are outpatient programs for young adults which only require the client to participate in counseling and therapy 1 or 2 times per week, and there are programs which require daily attendance.
