When someone in Marco Island needs drug abuse treatment and doesn't have private health insurance or the money to pay for treatment in full, the Access to Recovery Voucher is an alternative to look into. ATR is a federally-funded plan which provides the means for qualified people to access treatment facilities and support including inpatient, intensive outpatient, regular outpatient, counseling, continuing care, recovery and life coaching, vocational training, skills building, and transportation assistance. The ATR grant program allows those individuals with vouchers to acquire rehabilitation and recovery support services for substance use disorders at the provider of their choice. To be eligible for ATR individuals must fulfill certain requirements, including: 1) must be 18 years or older, 2) have a history of substance abuse and addiction, 3) have a yearly income that is below 200% of the Federal poverty level, and 4) reside in the counties or jurisdictions that provide ATR.
Individuals interested in the Access to Recovery Voucher can contact ATR Service Coordinators in their area. If the person's original choice of treatment or facility isn't working out, they can consult with their ATR coordinator to locate one that is and that accepts the ATR.
