Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Programs - San Antonio, FL.

One of the out-patient rehabilitation alternatives for people in San Antonio struggling with opioid dependence and addiction is called opioid maintenance therapy. Some centers and doctors are certified to give certain medications to opioid dependent people, many that are opioid-based also and are addictive. With low enough amounts the client does not experience high feelings but also doesn't have intense cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug used for this reason, but there are alternative choices currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opiate and is meant to be taken at an out-patient medical center certified to administer the med, which is taken on a daily basis in liquid or pill form. The cost of the drug is about one hundred and fifty dolloars a month. Buprenorphine is also an opiate based med, and is in pill form often taken every other day. But different from Methadone that can only be administered in highly well-regulated medical centers, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The monthly cost of buprenorphine is around just under $300 per month for the generic version of the med. There is also a type of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, that is a drug which reverses the effects of opioids. A person consuming this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It is also taken on a daily basis, and is priced about $450 a month. Naltrexone is an additional medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other drugs mentioned here it's an opiate blocker and is not an opioid. There is an option to take this medication as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from experience being high from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 per month.
