The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients.
