SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - Ellaville, GA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in Ellaville are programs that are legally allowed to distribute the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary services in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab program can get their initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years depending on the type of accreditation that was given.
