SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - Fort Benning, GA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Drug administered are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Fort Benning are programs which are officially allowed to give out the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab facility can receive initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab center is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the kind of certification that was given.
