The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals.
