SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Programs - West Point, GA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the behavioral health of the nation. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid rehab programs, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in West Point are programs which are officially allowed to give out the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary benefits in addition to medication like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab center can get their basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment center is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the type of accreditation that was given.
