SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centers - Dixon, IA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in Dixon are programs who are legally permitted to give out the drugs used in MAT being they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services aside from medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment program can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment center is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the kind of certification it has been granted.
