The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients.
