The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients.
