The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals.
