SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facilities - Monticello, IA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehab programs, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in Monticello are programs who are officially permitted to distribute the medications used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services aside from medication like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment facility can get their basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation program is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the kind of certification it has been given.
