The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid treatment programs, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people.
