The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the mental health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent people.
