The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients.
