The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients.
