SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - West Burlington, IA.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in West Burlington are programs who are legally allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services aside from medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab center can get their initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehab center is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of accreditation it has been given.
