The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Drug prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients.
