SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centers - Council, ID.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the administering of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Council are programs that are legally permitted to distribute the medications used in MAT being they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary benefits in addition to medication like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab center can get their initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the kind of accreditation it has been given.
