The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the administering of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients.
