The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid rehab programs, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients.
