SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facilities - Eden, ID.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehab facilities, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Eden are programs who are officially permitted to dispense the medications used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get ancillary benefits in addition to medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment program is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every three years depending on the kind of certification it has been given.
