SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Facilities - May, ID.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine prescribed are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in May are programs that are officially permitted to dispense the medications used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. A requirement that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab program can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, however, are required to get their full accreditation in a year. Opioid rehab programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment program is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every three years depending on the type of accreditation it has been given.
