SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facilities - Paul, ID.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Paul are programs who are legally permitted to distribute the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab program can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment program is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every three years depending on the type of accreditation that was given.
