SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers - Aledo, IL.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its responsibilities is the oversight of opioid rehab programs, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Aledo are programs which are legally permitted to dispense the medications used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get auxiliary services aside from medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation program can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every three years depending on the kind of certification it has been given.
