SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Programs - Geff, IL.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in Geff are programs who are officially allowed to distribute the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the kind of accreditation that was granted.
