DWI clients in treatment need specific requirements met to fulfill the conditions of their sentencing. Treatment programs which help fulfill these court requirements and conditions, which are usually much more lenient than traditional sentencing which would include heavy fines and incarceration, are offered in Loda to provide alcohol education, therapy, and further evaluation for individuals with heavy substance abuse issues.
Education is a fundamental tool used at rehabs treating DWI offenders. There are different levels of alcohol education which can vary by state. Level I education generally include 12 hours of education about the effects of drugs and/or alcohol. This is the what someone with a single offense or someone under 21 will ordinarily be required to complete. Level II courses would include both substance abuse education and therapy at a program which is approved by the courts. The duration the client will need to remain in therapy depends on various considerations, which can be, for example, how many DWI's the person has had, and the seriousness of the violation. Most often individuals will be sentenced to the Level II classes and therapy unless their blood-alcohol content level was extremely low when they were arrested and there weren't any other serious charges when the individual was arrested.
