SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Facilities - Macedonia, IL.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the United States. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab programs in Macedonia are programs who are officially allowed to distribute the medicines used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation program is certified, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the type of certification it has been given.
