SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - Melvin, IL.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid treatment programs, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab centers in Melvin are programs who are officially allowed to dispense the medicines used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation center can receive initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment center is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of accreditation that was granted.
