DWI clients in treatment need specific requirements met to satisfy the conditions of their court sentencing. Treatment facilities that help fulfill these requirements and conditions, which are typically far more lenient than regular sentencing such as steep fines and incarceration, are available in Plato Center to provide DWI classes, counseling, and further assessment for clients with serious drug or alcohol problems.
Drug and Alcohol Education is an essential treatment tool used at rehab programs treating DWI clients. There are various levels of alcohol education and this can differ by state. Level I education classes generally include 12 hours of education related to the effects of drugs and/or alcohol. This is the what someone with a first conviction or someone under 21 will ordinarily be required to complete. Level II courses would include both education and group therapy in a court approved program. How long an individual will be required to participate in therapy depends upon various considerations, which can be, for example, how many DWI's the individual has had, and the severity of the violation. In most cases, clients will be sentenced to the Level II classes and therapy except for when their blood-alcohol content level was extremely low when they were arrested and there were no other serious charges when the person was arrested.
