The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients.
