SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehabilitation Facilities - Steward, IL.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications prescribed are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Steward are programs who are legally allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medication like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can receive basic certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment program is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of certification it has been given.
