The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Drug administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients.
