DWI clients in treatment need specific requirements met to fulfill the conditions of their sentencing. Treatment facilities which help fulfill these demands and conditions, which are usually much more lenient than normal sentencing such as steep fines and jail time, are available in White Hall to deliver alcohol education, counseling, and further assessment for clients with serious alcohol or drug problems.
Drug and Alcohol Education is a fundamental treatment tool used at rehab programs treating DWI clients. There are various levels of alcohol education which can differ by state. Level I education classes generally consist of 12 hours of group education related to the effects of alcohol and drugs. This is the what someone with a first conviction or someone under 21 will usually be required to complete. Level II classes would include both education and group therapy in a court approved program. How long a client will have to remain in therapy depends on various considerations, which can be, for example, the number of DWI's the offender has had, and the severity of the offense. Most often clients will be required to take the Level II DWI classes and therapy except for when their blood-alcohol content was very low when they were arrested and there weren't any other serious charges when the person was arrested.
