The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. An opioid rehab program can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, however, are required to get their full accreditation in a year.
