SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Bradford, IN.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Bradford are programs which are officially allowed to give out the drugs used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary benefits in addition to medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation program can receive initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment center is approved to operate, it must be re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of accreditation it has been granted.
