Medicare is a federal health insurance program that helps pay for medical healthcare services for people living in the Unites States who are either disabled or 65 and older. For individuals that do have Medicare and need drug or alcohol treatment in Brazil, Medicare may cover certain treatment programs and recovery services. Medicare consists of different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering certain forms of treatment.
Part A (Insurance for Hospital Stays) - Medicare Part A covers inpatient addiction treatment, and up to 60 days in treatment without a co-pay but individuals will be required to pay a deductible. Medicare only pays for a total of 190 days of inpatient care, as in during the individual's lifetime.
Part B (Medical Insurance) ? Medicare Part B pays up to 80% of the expenses for outpatient drug and alcohol rehab. This includes outpatient care, therapy/counseling, treatment for co-occurring mental health disorders such as anxiety disorders or depression and medications administered by clinics. It also covers professional interventions.
Part C (Medicare-approved Private Insurance) Medicare Part D is an option for individuals who want supplemental coverage aside from Medicare Parts A, B, and D. People who have Part C may have more insurance benefits available to them, but out-of-pocket costs and coverage is different and may be more expensive.
Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D pays for drug and alcohol addiction medications. Including medications needed for withdrawal symptoms during detoxification as well as medications used for maintenance therapy such as buprenorphine or methadone.
