Drug administered are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted people. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary services in addition to medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment program can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the kind of certification it has been given.
