SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Helmsburg, IN.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the mental health of the nation. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid treatment programs, which are centers who provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Helmsburg are programs who are officially allowed to distribute the drugs used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services aside from medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid treatment program can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every three years contingent upon the type of accreditation that was granted.
